My Year 2015

Hello everybody!

I really wanted to write a post about this year before it is too late and it's already 2016. So here you are reading my review on the year 2015. This is also really a post about gratitude, which I wanted to write for a long time.

I want to begin with saying that I'm so grateful for all the people who stepped in (and also out again) off my life. Even if it has just been a short time you've been there, thank you for walking some part of my way with me.

So many things happened in 2015, so many ups and downs, highs and lows. I've grown so much! (not physically, I'm already tall enough haha)

So let's take a look at my resolutions for this year. Did I keep them?

  • I read one more book than last year, so I basically read more
  • I made new friends
  • I didn't post more often on here /cries
  • I traveled (not far, but it was still great)
  • I didn't work out much... and I stopped doing cheerleading myself /cries more
  • I got more self confident!
  • I loved and forgave (I guess?)
  • Idk... am I doing what I love? I'm not sure yet to be honest
I'd say I was pretty successful with my resolutions haha. My new resolutions for next year will be up tomorrow.
I want to talk a bit more about 2015, about all those things that happened. This is my retrospect on the year:

January: I made new good friends and had good times with my new and also my old friends. Generally good times!
February: I can't really remember anything significant... I also had some good times with friends, but other than that nothing special happened
March: Won a competition with my cheerleading team and qualified for nationals! It was also my first competition as a coach of a junior team.
April: Nothing special happened until the end of April, where I had a huge fight with someone (he was such an asshole to me!!!)
May: NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!! Still so hyped about this!!!
June: Disneyland!!!! :-) and we came in 8th place at the European championship. But this was also the end of my active cheerleading career (at least till now) /ugly sobbing
July: I don't know.... I just sweated a lot during June and July hahaha
August: My voluntary year ended which made me very happy but it's very likely that I also won't see the friends I made during this year again which is kinda sad. I had some good times with friends though during Summer and I also visited Vienna which was amazing!
September: I can't really remember anything special in September...
October: I started Uni and moved out! Yay
November: Uni isn't as much fun as I thought it was... stresssssss!!! haha
December: Still so much stressssss!! Also because of the competition of my junior team, but it was worth it though.

I am so grateful for so many things. I was part of the best team ever, there was just so much love in this team. I'm always about to cry when I think about them. Miss these girls so much!
I'm also grateful for all my friends, new and old. Thanks for just existing! ♥ We spend so many great times together, let this never stop please.
I'm also so happy that I'm able to live on my own now and that this will make me grow more and I hope to become even more self confident in the next year.

And last but not least thanks to you all for reading this blog (even though I don't update it that often). You are awesome! Don't forget that! :)

xx lots of love!

Party Outfit?!

Hello my little Christmas elves

I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but at the school I went to (and graduated from ~two years ago) there is an annual festive Christmas party. You dress fancy, you eat and drink a lot (A LOT) and you have a great time with all the people you used to hate. Okay no just kidding, with people I actually kinda like and love seeing again! I love reunions! It's also fun to talk with your former teachers.

There is only one problem: What am I going to wear?

It's the same problem for the third year in a row now. I don't just want to look good I want to slay haha. In school I never really cared about my looks, I just cared about my sleep. And this is the perfect opportunity to show everyone that I actually look like a model. More or less lol.

Last year's outfit was great. Leather leggings and a lose burgundy blouse.

So I came up with a few ideas of what to wear but I'm not sure for which I want to go. And I don't want to spend too much money on clothes I'm probably never wearing again.
I'd also love to get new shoes, like some nice high heels. But I'm not confident enough to wear real HIGH heels (I'm about 6'1...)

Here is what I thought of and some inspirational pictures from Pinterest:

1. A-line midi skirt + crop top

2. Sequin!

3. A nice dress

To be honest, I'd love to show you some pretty dresses here but I didn't find one single dress online that I liked. They either weren't in my price range (okay, nothing really is in my price range lol) or they didn't have them in my size.
It's truly depressing.

I really don't know what to do now. I'll go look for a dress tomorrow or next week again in some shops but they didn't really have anything nice either...

Do you have any ideas by any chance?

Blogmas: Christmas Movies

Day two of Blogmas is here! And it is all about MOVIES!

I already mentioned it a lot of times but I will mention it again: I love films and movies! And when it's cold outside and it's Christmas time there is probably no better way to spend your evenings than watching a Christmas movie, having a cuppa and snuggling into blankets and pillows (with a nice person preferably but well... you can't have everything haha).

I have to admit that I haven't seen that many Christmas movies yet though. I only got my own TV for Christmas last year and my parents aren't that much into Christmas movies unfortunately.
There are two "traditional" movies in our family though. We watch them every year together. (I will talk more about traditions in another post soon)

Little Lord Fauntleroy and Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel (Engl.: Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella. It's some alteration of Cinderella).
Those are both typical German Christmas movies (Little Lord Fauntleroy is actually British but it has become a classic here in Germany).

Here is the rest of the list of movies I want to watch until Christmas:

  • Home Alone
  • How the Grinch stole Christmas
  • Scrooged
  • Miracle on 34th Street
  • The Muppet Christmas Carol
  • Die Hard (need some action too haha)
  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • Love Actually (love love love this movie so much!)
  • Rise of the Guardians
  • The Nightmare before Christams
and last but not least, two things I'm really anticipating for some time now:
  • The Night Before
and most importantly:
I love Bill Murray so much and I'm so excited for this show or whatever it is!!! Only two more days! Yay!

(c) Netflix

What are your favourite Christmas movies? And what are you excited about?

Blogmas: Christmas Wishlist

Last I kinda failed my Blogmas project but I'm really trying to make it this year. Although I'm always stressed out because living on your own and going to uni isn't that easy and I'm still figuring out how to cope haha.

I will start with my Christmas wishlist. And to be honest I've never struggled before to write one. But this year I really have no idea what I really want to have for Christmas. Apparently I kinda lost my materialistic self. I can't believe it myself haha. I already struggled with my birthday wishlist.
So here are just some random things that came to my mind when I thought about my wishes. Non of these are a real priority though....

One day I want to own all the MCU movies. So why not start this Christmas to get some. Also books are always great.
And I really want to have a proper camera for such a long time now.
Also my purse isn't the prettiest anymore... So yeah. And this watch is just so pretty!
And most importantly: Justin Bieber's Purpose!!!!!!!!!!!11 I'm so in love with this album (and him lol sorry not sorry). I also would love to have Adele's 25. Sometimes you just want to have your heartbroken I guess haha. Adele is A++++.

I already said these are just some random things I'd like to have but I don't need them to survive haha. (Except JB's and Adele's albums maybe...)

What is on your Christmas wishlist? Is there anything special you laid eyes on? Let me know!

Hope you have nice first December. xx

See You Again, Vienna!

Hello there!

I could try to make some excuses why it took me weeks to post this but there aren't any to be honest. I have plenty of time but I mostly spend it on the couch with Netflix haha (I watched the season 7 of The Big Bang Theory in one day. Ha!)
But finally here it is, the last post about my trip to Vienna.
During the last days we went to the Natural History Museum (I especially liked the Dinosaur/Evolution part! So interesting! And Dinosaurs!!!! ♥), to a Cat Video Festival (Cats!!!!!) which was quite funny, we went shopping (though I didn't buy much), we visited the Mozarthaus and at the last evening we had dinner on the Old Danube.
Everything was so beautiful and interesting. Especially the Mozarthaus. That was one place I really wanted to visit and I wasn't let down. I recommend getting an audio guide; there is A LOT to listen to, it would probably take hours to listen to everything but it's very if you love classical music and Mozart it's definitely worth it.
The Old Danube in the evening / at night is so beautiful! The dinner was very delicious but not enough for me unfortunately. But we had ice cream afterwards so it was alright. And yes, the dinner was ON the river. On some little boat. A great way to end such a great trip!
I hope to go back very soon and visit all the things I haven't seen yet.

This is the Mozarthaus! Unfortunately you're not allowed to take photos inside :(

The Old Danube

Beautiful sunset!
Walking over the Danube at night

Vienna is definitely one of the best cities in Europe I've seen so far (and the most livable city worldwide 2015 !!). I can't wait to visit again!

Schönbrunn Palace

When I was a child I always watched a TV show about Empress Elisabeth and her life. It was made for children and therefore not a 1:1 rendition of her real life (e.g. in the series she had blonde hair when in real life her hair was dark haha) but ever since I've watched it I wanted to visit Schönbrunn Palace.
And of course when you visit Vienna this is on top of your To-Do-List!

My aunt told me that when you visit Schönbrunn you basically just walk around the gardens and you can visit the Palm House but there is not much about Elisabeth. So before we went to Schönbrunn, we went to the Hermesvilla first.
This is the house where Elisabeth spent most of her time when she was in Vienna. It is not directly in Vienna but in the forest near Vienna I think. It's very beautiful though unfortunately it is being restored and there is scaffolding all around it. There is also an exhibition in it, so you can see how Elisabeth lived there.
After that we went to Schönbrunn. Finally!
I can't really talk about it a lot, just look at the pictures. But when you go there you should go the Palm House, too.

and the back of it + some parts of the gardens (the gardens are huuuuuge, there's even a maze)

Hope you got an impression of the Palace and the surroundings :) It's so gorgeous there!

There is still one last post about Vienna to follow :) Stay tuned!!

Through the Streets of Vienna

Hello there guys! Or rather "Gruß Gott" or "Servus", how the Austrians say haha.

In the last of August I've been to Vienna. I've been to Austria a couple times but I've always been in the Alps then. I have heard a lot about Vienna obviously, especially since one of my childhood rolemodels, Empress Elisabeth of Austria, lived there. People always told me that it is so beautiful there and now that I've been to Vienna myself, I can tell you yes, it is VERY beautiful indeed.

Earlier this year I asked my aunt if she wanted to travel with me somewhere and she said she would. There were a few options of where to go (London was also one of them) but in the end I decided that I wanted to see Vienna.
My aunt has a good friend there and we could stay at her flat, very close to the city centre and even closer to the Prater.

Our time there consisted mostly of very hot weather (we arrived tuesdays and from wednesday on it was always over 30°C), a lot culture, good food and an awful lot of running walking.

The things I knew about and which I wanted to visit were Schönbrunn and the Kunst Haus / Hunderwasser museum.
I looked through Pinterest and googled a bit but I didn't really find anything about other important tourist attractions, except the Prater maybe. But luckily my aunt lived in Vienna herself for one or two semesters during her study, therefore I had a good guide with me haha.

On the first day we walked through the city centre and she showed me some of the important buildings (they're all so gorgeous!!! The architecture in Vienna is amazing!) and we went to the Albertina, an art museum. There were four exhibitions, about Austrian modern art, drawing and sketching, impressionism and one about interior design during the Habsburg Monarchy.
In the evening after dinner we went to the Prater. We didn't go on any of the rides, just looking at some of them was sufficient haha.

On the second day we visited the Kunst Haus.
When I was in primary school we talked about Friedensreich Hundertwasser in Art and I loved him and his art ever since. So I was so happy to finally see his architecture and the exhibition of his art. I really appreciated this museum! After that we walked to the actual Hundertwasserhouse. It is so impressive! I'd love to live there.

And now finally some impressions of the beautiful city:

In front of St Stephen's Cathedral
The Austrian parliament
The townhall (in front of it was a music/film festival)
city centre / some shopping street
The Kunst Haus
Isn't it gorgeous?
Inside the Kunst Haus
The Hunderwasserhaus. It looks even more impressive in real life!

Summer Reads

Hello there my fellow book lovers and those who just stumbled upon my blog.
If you asked me what I've done this week I wouldn't really be able to come up with a good answer besides from "I watched Broadchurch Season 1".
I am so much behind in my Goodreads Reading Challenge it's actually quite depressing. But I hope I'll be able to finish a book very soon (hopefully today???).

I will show you now a few books which I think are quite nice to read during summer. Whether you're at the beach, the pool, your balcony or just inside hiding from the heat and the sun, these books make a nice companion.

books to read during summer

I'm currently reading Me Before You. This is actually NOT a nice, easy or delightful summer read, but the topic is pretty interesting and well-written (and even a little heartwarming maybe..although it's still kinda depressing). I would'nt say love stories are my typical genre but I heard so much about this book and how good it is so I had to give it a try, especially since the cast of the movie is amazing. I have to admit that it is quite good indeed, although I still have to read the end... (And to be honest, I don't want to read the end haha I'm scared)

The Life List is a really inspiring and joyful read (I still shed some tears though), perfect for summer. I really loved this book.

Another book I really love is The Lover's Dictionary. It is a story about a couple and their life together but it isn't told chronologically but from A to Z, just like a dictionary (who would've expected that! lol). I think it's very artful and the idea is unique. It's definitely worth the read and if you can't get enough you should also follow David Levithan on Twitter for even more dictionary entries!

One of my favourite books is The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I saw it everywhere when I was in England two years ago and I had to buy it as soon as I was home again (don't ask me why I haven't bought it in England... I don't know!). It is a fantastical story about growing up. Everyone should read it, because it's a topic that affects all of us, unfortunately haha. It is definitely worth reading! Neil Gaiman is amazing!

As you see, there are still two other books on the picture, The Lightning Thief and An Abundance of Katherines. Those are books I haven't read yet, but I plan to read them in the next few weeks. I think those are two easy reads that you can also read very fast. John Green is always a good idea and I've heard a lot of positive things about the Percy Jackson books. They're probably easy reads and good story which you can easily follow (not like Game of Thrones for example lol. Reading that equals work). I'm really looking forward to read those two, especially The Lightning Thief, which has been lying on my shelf for at least 4 years now (I'm a terrible book hoarder...)

What have you read during summer this year? Can recommend some other nice summer reads?

Summer Bucket List (2.0)

Hope you're all good and having a great summer so far! I'm doing pretty well. My summer's alright too so far.
I love summer. I can't really say that it's my favourite season, because I love all seasons and every season has its perks and downsides (although there are not many downsides of summer to be honest haha) but I still really love summer.
And one of the reasons why I love summer is because there are so many great things you can do!

Last year I've also wrote a post about my Summer Bucket List, but I was not very successful with keeping up on it...
So this year I added a few points and crossed out a few others, so that I will hopefully do better.

Here it is:

  • go on vacation
  • go to the beach
  • water ballon fight
  • city trip to Vienna (everything's planned already and I'm so excited!!)
  • open air cinema
  • get a tan (a fake one would count too lol)
  • star gazing
  • BBQs with great people
  • read a few books
  • go on a bike trip
  • go to a festival
  • make ice cream/popsicles
  • party! (party outside???!!! PLS)
  • throw a houseparty (as soon as my parents are on vacay!)
  • be happy and have a great summer!

Some are more likely to be achieved than others but I'll give my best!

Tell me about your bucket list if you have one, and please remember this:
Don't let others ruin your summer! You're great, strong and beautiful and you'll have a great time with great people!

On My Lips: Craving

Hello Guys!

I can't believe everything is over now. I worked for (almost) one whole year as a volunteer at a school and today summer break begins and I'm free! The job wasn't easy and I hated it many times but now that it's over I'm also sad. I made new friends and I got to now the pupils better and better and I liked them even though they were some bunch of rude and annoying kids.

But this is not what this post is about. It's all about Craving. MAC's Craving!
I decided to do some reviews of some of my high end and my recently bought products.

This is also the first post from my new laptop! Eek! Exciting!!!

I laid eyes on this (and some other) MAC lipsticks a few months ago but I wasn't really sure what colour exactly I wanted. There are so many colours that look very similar to Craving but have another finish or another undertone maybe. I always struggle to make out colour's undertones though haha.
In the end I decided to buy Craving without really thinking about it and I don't regret it!

I usually wear very bright colours for example bright reds like Russian Red.
Craving is a kinda plummy pink, MAC describes it as a "burst of plum". It is a rather light plum tone, though, compared to Rebel.

Its finish is Amplified. This is my first Amplified lipstick (I only own two matte MAC lipsticks). It is creamy and doesn't dry out your lips, which I love. The pigmentation is also very nice when applied.

It doesn't last as long as matte lipsticks but it still lasts pretty long. If you exfoliate your lips well beforehand and use a good primer and lip liner it will last and since it also hydrates your lips a little it is easily reapplied and doesn't feel weird after some time. No chapped lips! YAY.

I really like the colour and the finish. This will not be my last Amplified lipstick! And I'm already looking at other MAC lippies I could buy haha. I guess I'm addicted to lipsticks...
